Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro ended the first weekend with a dismal box office collection. It appeared to be picking up some speed on Sunday but failed to build upon it on Monday, which was a holiday on account of Independence Day.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Mohenjo Daro did not get the required boost on Mon [Independence Day]… Although the 4-day total is decent, it should’ve been much higher. Fri 8.87 cr, Sat 9.60 cr, Sun 12.07 cr, Mon 10.36 cr. Total: ₹ 40.90 cr. India biz.”
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the period drama has earned Rs 40.9 crore in four days at the BO, primarily due to its strong showing on Sunday.
The film had taken in Rs 8.87 crore on Friday in India. The epic adventure-romance collected Rs 9.6 crore on the box office on Saturday (day two), Rs 12.07 crore on Sunday (day three) and Rs 10.36 crore on Monday (day four), taking the cumulative total to Rs 40.9 crore.
The film has already earned Rs 60 crore from the sale of satellite rights to Star TV and the music rights to T-Series. It released on August 12 and did good business in the Middle East too.
